OPL 284-DO is an oil and gas block located deep offshore with water depth ranging between 200m to 1,300m. The block which covers an area of 1,132 km² is operated by Sahara Energy Field Limited, a subsidiary of Asharami Energy.

The company has successfully completed about 600 sq.km 3D seismic acquisition on the block as part of its work program commitment. An exploration well drilling programme is currently being planned to test the deep water structures already identified on the block.

The block is on trend with numerous discoveries including Ene, Ebolibo, Engule and Oberan fields with the producing Oyo field located north of the block.

Following Shell/BG’s exit, Sahara now holds 90% equity on the block.
